Summer Reads

I'm sitting on the beach. I'm looking around me at sweaty tanned people reading chick-lit, mystery novels, British Vogue, and the Times newspaper. I look down and I'm reading about postmodernism and philosophy (in preparation for school that starts in less than two weeks holycow!). I die a little inside.

Reading is one of my favourite things and I really look forward to the day when I don't feel guilty about reading something that is not related to a university course. You know, when reading is fun again?

Did you have a favourite summer read this year?

- Jess

  1. As a recent MA English grad, I feel your pain! People generally miss out on all the good stuff. My favorite reads of the summer were The Stories of Vladimir Nobokov, First Love, Last Rites by McEwan, and Tender is the Night and This Side of Paradise by Fitzgerald. You?

  2. @chillairandperfume Good to know that First Love Last Rites by McEwan comes recommended! I haven't really read anything for pleasure and not school in ages, but I look forward to the day...

  3. I made sure I read for ME this past summer because I hadn't had time while getting my Master's, and I knew I wouldn't have time once law school started, lol.

Let's talk.
