Guest Post at Explore. Dream. Discover

 explore.  dream.  discover.

I'm guest posting about life in Malta over at Explore. Dream. Discover today (formerly From Portland to Peonies), a blog by the lovely Liz who moved from Portland, Oregon, to Amsterdam with her husband Corey and their (adorable) Frenchton dog Henry last year.

Liz and Corey are currently in Seville and I'm so pleased she asked me to fill in for her.

Thanks Liz, and safe travels!

- Jess
p.s. If you've wandered over here from Liz's blog, welcome! I hope you'll stay awhile.

  3. Hi just came over from Liz's blog also. So thrilled to find your blog. Lovely layout and makes me really interested to visit Malta. We are an Australian couple living in Amsterdam for 2.5 years now. Life abroad certainly is interesting! Quick question. Is June already full high season there? Would be lovely to visit for some sunshine and you cannot guarantee that in any season in rainy Holland. Always difficult to avoid the masses in European summer though! Look forward to following your blog. Catherine

    1. Hi Catherine,

June is the start of high season in terms of numbers of tourists - July and August are the peak though. The weather in June is normally gorgeously hot and sunny, and it would be quite surprising to have rain in mid-late June. I'm looking back through the blog posts and I think we had some in early June last year (which was abnormal) but it stopped by the middle of the month and didn't come back again until September. Hope this helps, thanks for visiting!

  4. From Liz's blog, too! I can't believe how gorgeous your photographs are! I've traveled in the Mediterranean a little, but I'd never heart of Malta. Can't wait to keep following your blog :)

  5. Just found you blog via your guest post! Great post and beautiful photos! My husband is going to Malta for a few days for a school conference thing--what are some of the best places to get food? He loves food and would love to try some good seafood fit for a grad student budget :) He'll be in Valletta, I believe. I'm excited to start following your blog!

    1. Hi Kimmy, thanks for stopping by! We haven't tried very many restaurants in Valletta, but our favourite sit-down place is La Mere (Indian/Maltese/Mediterranean). Not sure how much seafood they have on their menu, so you might also try http://www.restaurantsmalta.com for some more ideas.

We've had seafood at Barracuda and Sciacca restaurants in St. Julian's (a quick bus ride from Valletta) and both were very good. You should find something to fit a grad student's budget on most menus in Malta - reason #498 why we love it here.

      Hope this helps!

  6. I'm so happy to have found your blog via Liz's! We traveled a lot when we lived in Europe, and Malta is still, to this day, my favourite country that I've visited. I loved the unique blend of cultures, festas, and rich history. I also loved the vintage buses and saltwater taffy. I'm hoping to one day go back and also stop by Gozo to rent a farm house. So excited to catch up on your adventure abroad!

    1. Hi Heather,
We love hearing when others love it here too. And I hate to be the one to tell you - the old buses are gone! We've switched to a 'modern' system: http://www.arriva.com.mt. Thanks for popping by!
