La Mere Restaurant, Valletta

This was our fourth trip to La Mere restaurant on Merchant's Street in Valletta. As always, it was excellent - our favourite Indian food in Malta.

The menu at La Mere is wonderfully varied, including Arabic, Mediterranean, Maltese, and Indian selections. And somehow this strange medley works. The restaurant's brilliant branding and cozy atmosphere is unique and inviting. And you can even BYOB - with a corkage fee of €4.50 good wine is quite reasonably priced (we like this one with La Mere's vegetarian thali).

La Mere is open for lunch Tuesday to Saturday, 12-3 pm, and dinner Monday to Saturday, 7 pm till late. Book ahead! This tiny, casual restaurant seats only about 25.

  1. I love when restaurants have BYOB. We used to go to a Middle Eastern place in Dallas with a similar policy. There was a big liquor store across the street so we'd pick up a case of our favorite beer, leave it at the front door when we arrived and they'd serve it to us when we were ready.

    1. It's a bit of a hole in the wall, but you should definitely search it out again!
