To save money during our road trip, we set ourselves a limit of less than €100 per night to spend on accommodation (that's €50 each - no easy task!)

In Avignon, on short notice (we booked less than a month in advance) this meant staying outside the city at Cube Hotel.

Cube Hotel is located just across the river in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon. Not only did it have free parking and WiFi, but its rooftop terrace offered lovely views of the Rhone river and the Palais des Papes. Our room was a good size, and was decorated with original artwork (bonus points, in my books). It also had a minibar and a big, private terrace, extra pillows, and nice smelling soaps. What more could a girl want?

The service at Cube Hotel was excellent. The receptionist made us feel very welcome, helped us with our luggage, gave us tips for our visit, and provided us with a bunch of tourist literature. There is also a restaurant across the street from the hotel. You could easily walk to the city from here (just across the Ile de la Barthelasse - the largest river island in Europe!) but since it looked like it was ready to pour, we drove over instead, and parked under the Palais des Papes.

In general, French hotels in our price range tend to be very...floral. So Cube Hotel was a welcome taste of modern convenience at a budget price. We would highly recommend it.

  1. what a hip looking place. i much prefer places like this over large chain hotels. thanks for the tip!

    1. you're very welcome! sometimes the convenience of a large chain hotel is nice, but i like finding the same convenience in a smaller package like this, too :)

  2. This place looks so cute and you can't beat the price! You're a European trip planner extraordinaire ;) Thanks for sharing this - will definitely come in handy next time I find myself in Avignon.

Let's talk.
