Flat Club is an exclusive network of short term accommodation rentals. If LinkedIn and Airbnb had a baby, this would be it. A London-based company that initially became big in the UK, Flat Club launched in the US this year and is taking the networked travel world by storm.
I'm part of that club of people who is still a bit freaked out by couch-surfing or living in a stranger's flat while travelling (as I wrote here). But FlatClub provides a bit more of a sense of trust and control than other short-term accommodation options (type A's rejoice!)
It works like this: Flat Club connects you with people in your academic, professional, and social networks ("clubs") to find short term rentals from 1 night to 6 months. You join clubs using your academic or workplace email address. Or, you can login with Facebook and automatically get added to relevant clubs.
Not only is Flat Club a great option for travelling university alum and professors, its also a great way to network with like-minded professionals and travellers alike, all over the world. Check it out!
don't forget: 50% off booking fees with the code 2NDBDAY (valid until December 10, 2012)
